This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

The word "safari" conjures up thoughts of excitement, adventure, thrills and romance. A Park City company, Safari Experts, makes these thoughts a reality in many lands.

I loved hearing owner Tim Lapage's adventure tales of trips to Africa, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Tim says he takes guests into lands where the culture hasn't changed for 1,500 years. His safaris are customized tours using private lands others don't visit. He also provides opportunities to walk and ride among wildlife and stay in luxurious safari lodges.

I asked Tim how he started his business in Park City. In 1979, Tim was a pilot in the Middle East. He also flew small aircraft for tourists in Africa. One day Rhoda Ramsey from Utah was his passenger. He told her someday he wanted to move to Aspen, Colo. and start a safari business. Rhoda said, "Good idea ... wrong place! You must come to Park City, Utah instead." Well, Tim followed her advice and has never regretted it. Since that time, he has taken hundreds of Utahns and thousands of others from the States and the world to visit Africa, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

Tim is a native of Kenya, and he knows all of Africa very well. He incorporates a lifetime of experience and connections to help clients put together extremely personalized trips. "Our success comes from uniqueness," says Tim. Safari Experts doesn't use "middle men," and clients are ensured full value for their money. I was pleased to hear the trips aren't just for the wealthy. Tim can provide an experience to bring visitors to the heart of Africa and its people, sharing a culture and landscape that leaves a lasting impression for as little as $300 per day, or up to $1,000 per day — all inclusive.

Safari Experts now offers opportunities to visit many exotic locations from the Galapagos to the Serengeti, with concentration on detail and first-class accommodations. These trips offer diversity of a vast land, extraordinary wildlife, and wholesome and friendly people. For more information, check out the Web site at www.safariexperts.com.
