(KSL News) A fugitive from Utah has been arrested in Hawaii.
Taylorsville police say Eric Iosen Jones, 36, was arrested Wednesday while staying in a motel room in Honolulu.
Jones was wanted on a $200,000 warrant for felony child abuse and neglect. Police say he failed to appear at a pretrial conference and then fled Utah to avoid prosecution.
He is wanted in connection with a case from November 2006. Police responded to the University of Utah's burn unit on a call of a 1-year-old child who had received burns to the lower part of his body. The child was in critical condition for several months and has since been released from the hospital, with multiple surgeries pending.
No word on when Jones will be extradited to Salt Lake City.
