This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Some people call the Internet the Information Superhighway. Because of the massive amount of information available — both good and bad — allowing children to browse the Internet can be beneficial, but dangerous as well.

MSTAR.net is a family-friendly Internet service provider. MSTAR's sophisticated, yet easy-to-use content filtering system gives parents peace of mind as children study and play on the Internet.

Based in Salt Lake City, MSTAR began as a non-profit affiliate of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When the Church wanted to sell the Internet service, Jon Hansen saw an opportunity to acquire a quality company. It had a strong brand and a loyal subscriber base. Jon purchased the business in 2002 with partners and became CEO.

Under Jon's leadership, MSTAR continues to provide the same quality services families have come to rely on. Jon is also taking the company into uncharted territory as one of only two service providers on the UTOPIA fiber optic network in 14 Utah cities.

UTOPIA allows MSTAR to significantly expand its service offerings. In addition to ultra high-speed Internet access, MSTAR will now provide digital television and local and long distance telephone service. Bundling these three services will save customers money and will give them the convenience of consolidated billing and customer support. MSTAR will extend its filtering, as far as possible, into its digital television and video on demand offerings. Hansen explains, "No technology is perfect, but we must do all we reasonably can to protect families from harmful content, whether on the Internet, movies or TV."

MSTAR is enabling families to benefit from all the best the Information Superhighway has to offer, while protecting families from the bad. The services people want, delivered at a competitive price, is a good idea in today's business world.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
