This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Here in Utah, it's hard to get to the mountains without passing a Ski 'N See store. As the company's owner Roy Ostendorf put it, "The easiest way would probably be in a helicopter." That's because all seven of the Ski 'N See locations are strategically located en route to northern Utah's ski resorts.

I met with Roy and the company's general manager, Ryan Larsen, at one of their stores in Sandy. I was surprised to learn that when it began, the company only rented skis. The doors were kept open during the summers by selling sunglasses — hence the name: Ski 'N See. That was 1987. In the 17 years since opening, the company has added six more stores and dramatically broadened its summer product line to include wake boards, water skis, towables, inflatables, wet suits, custom-built golf clubs and golf accessories.

These days, with its ever-evolving selection of products and services, Ski 'N See still remains one of the premier winter sports shops around. With skis, snowboards, snowshoes, coats, bibs, bindings and gloves, the shops have everything you are looking for in winter sports equipment. You can even pick up a discounted lift ticket to most of the area resorts at Ski 'N See.

Besides its impressive equipment, Ski 'N See also has an impressive staff. The Pro Staff members receive training from experts in safety and service. After a tough day at the slopes, snowboarders frequently bring in their boards for overnight service. The staff uses the Wintersteiger 'Laser 40' to resurface the bottom of the board with a thin layer of base material. The board is then sent through a 'stone grinder,' which creates a smoother ride with easier turns. By the time the Pro Staff is finished with the board, it rides like new.

Whatever the season, Ski 'N See has everything you need to conquer the waves, moguls and slopes that stand in your way.
