OREM, Utah (AP) — Conner Toolson scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Utah Valley beat Idaho State 82-73 on Wednesday night.
Kenneth Ogbe finished with 17 points and Isaac Neilson added 14 points and a team-high 12 rebounds for the Wolverines (1-1), who hit 11 3-pointers while limiting the Bengals to just 5 of 18.
Ethan Telfair led all scorers with 25 points for Idaho State (0-2). Geno Luzcando added 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Bengals. Novak Topalovic had 15 points and 16 boards.
A pair of Telfair free throws gave Idaho State a 52-46 lead with 13:12 left. But a 15-6 scoring stretch, capped by a Toolson 3 and layup on consecutive possessions, gave Utah Valley the lead which they held the rest of the way.
Two free throws by Brandon Randolph pushed the lead past double digits (76-65) with 2:21 left.
