SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man who killed his toddler daughter, burned her body and dumped her remains in a waterway has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Twenty-five-year-old Ryan Lawrence of Syracuse was sentenced Wednesday in Onondaga County Court.
He pleaded guilty in September to killing 21-month-old Maddox Lawrence in February. Authorities say he killed her with a wooden baseball bat, tied her remains to a cinderblock and dumped them in a Syracuse creek.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Maddox after Lawrence disappeared with her. He was arrested two days later. His daughter's remains were found in an inlet off the end of Onondaga Lake.
District Attorney William Fitzpatrick says he has no answers as to why Lawrence killed his daughter.
