This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Few insurance agencies have a history as rich as that of the Tatton Insurance Agency in Price. Back in the 1950s, Maurice Tatton worked in the coal mining industry, which dominated the commercial and business environment of Price and all of Carbon County. But after losing his right arm in a mining accident, Maurice had to walk away from the industrial life he knew and train himself to become a business professional.

In 1957, Maurice founded Tatton Insurance Agency and began selling insurance to his neighbors, friends and family. Maurice launched his company with one desk and a space he rented in the corner of another community business. Over time, he established a reputation of integrity and quality for the company before selling it to his son, Richard Tatton, who returned 18 years later to live in Price.

Soon after Richard purchased and began operating the business, Tatton Insurance Agency began to grow. The agency was incorporated, and additional lines of business and employees were added. Besides making improvements to the operation of the business, Richard also furthered the business commitment to the community. He and the agency are long-time members of community service organizations, such as Kiwanis. Richard has also served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Price City Council.

Richard has now owned and operated Tatton Insurance Agency for 30 years. The agency currently does business in all areas of insurance, including auto, home, commercial, life, health and special events. The agency is a resource for all community members, whether they are clients or not, to visit and discuss their life circumstances and issues.

Richard says the values that established the business almost 50 years ago — mainly honesty, integrity and service to customers and community — are the basis for another 50 years of Tatton Insurance Agency service and business in the Price community.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
