This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Emery and Carbon Counties offer many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. It is a paradise for those who love to camp, hunt, fish and revel in the glories of nature.
High Velocity Sports in Huntington is a great spot for nature enthusiasts to equip and prepare for all that the area offers. Mike Bass, the manager, greeted me when I arrived at the High Velocity Sports facility. He explained that Emery County really needed an outlet to provide goods and services for gardeners, farmers and outdoorsmen. The Sitterud Family, who owns a fabricating company, decided to satisfy that need and opened High Velocity Sports just two and a half years ago.
I wandered through the store and saw big selections of outdoor clothing and equipment. A large assortment of Wrangler products and a variety of backpacks, helmets, shoes, boots and other apparel are on display. I saw a large selection of Kawasaki vehicles and equipment. The store even has a bombardier on display, along with snowmobiles, ATVs and a camouflaged Outlander.
Early this year, the store added a garden supply department. A wide selection of seeds and fertilizers are available, as well as a mixture of name brand generators, lawn mowers, power equipment, farm and ranch supplies, dog food and birdseed.
The thing that really intrigued me when I first walked in to visit with Mike was a very lifelike display. A great, big tree with realistic stuffed animals crouched in the branches sits in the middle of the showroom. It almost feels like the animals would leap to the ground at any moment and have me heading up the tree.
