NEW YORK (AP) — Stars of Hollywood and Broadway, including Julia Roberts and Helen Mirren, put on a splashy fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in New York last night. The Democratic candidate could only address the group by video. But daughter Chelsea and husband Bill were present at the sold-out event. It comes as Clinton's campaign is launching new efforts aimed at expanding her lead and helping her party win back control of Congress.

WHITE PLAINS, New York (AP) — Hillary Clinton is facing fresh revelations about her use of a private email server as secretary of state. FBI records show that a senior State Department official unsuccessfully sought to lower the classification level of an email found on the server. At a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Donald Trump labeled the move "collusion" and declared it was even worse than Watergate.

MOSCOW (AP) — Moscow has announced that Russian and Syrian warplanes are halting airstrikes on the besieged city of Aleppo. Russia's Defense Minister says the airstrikes have been suspended to prepare for the opening of a window of opportunity for the rebels to leave Aleppo. That window is supposed to open on Thursday, and last for eight hours.

BERLIN (AP) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel's office says she will host a meeting with the Russian, Ukrainian and French presidents tomorrow to discuss efforts toward peace in eastern Ukraine. The four leaders have held sporadic meetings to discuss implementation of the Minsk accord brokered by Germany and France — the last of them in Paris last October.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" are looking a little down at the heels. So the Smithsonian is launching a $300,000 Kickstarter campaign to repair and conserve them. The sequined shoes were crafted almost 80 years ago by the MGM Studios prop department and have grown fragile over time.
