SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The latest campaign fundraising reports show Republican U.S. Rep. Mia Love continues to rake in cash for her second election race against Democrat Doug Owens.
From early July through September, Love raised about $1.4 million, making a new quarterly high ahead of her first re-election test in November.
Owens raised $459,000 during the same three-month period, according to his campaign finance reports.
Love heads into the coming weeks with $1.19 million in her campaign account. Owens has about $344,000 on hand.
The former mayor of Saratoga Springs became the first black Republican woman in Congress when she was elected in 2014 with 51 percent of the vote.
Owens, though, had a strong showing with 46 percent of the vote. He's a Salt Lake City attorney and son of former U.S. Rep. Wayne Owens.
