HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) — The executive director of the Republican Party in North Carolina says GOP offices around the state are re-examining their security. A party office in Orange County was torched by a flammable device and someone spray-painted graffiti referring to "Nazi Republicans" on the wall of an adjacent building. No one was injured.
KHAZER, Iraq (AP) — In Iraq, the long-awaited fight to wrest the northern city of Mosul (MOH'-sul) from Islamic State fighters is underway. Convoys of Iraqi, Kurdish and U.S. forces moved east of Mosul along the front line, backed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes. Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, has been under IS rule for more than two years.
BEIJING (AP) — China has launched a pair of astronauts into space on a mission to dock with an experimental space station. They will remain aboard for 30 days to pave the way for additional modules that will result in a fully completed space station six years from now.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Three years after suffering a life-threatening stroke, country singer Randy Travis found his distinctive voice and sang "Amazing Grace" during his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Travis was inducted along with fiddler Charlie Daniels and record producer Fred Foster during Sunday's medallion ceremony in Nashville.
