WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton's running mate says Republican leaders need to push back harder against Donald Trump's claims that the election is rigged. In an interview with ABC's "This Week," Tim Kaine said Trump is "swinging at every phantom of his own imagination because he knows he's losing."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump's running mate isn't seconding Trump's call for drug testing before the next presidential debate. Mike Pence was asked on "Fox News Sunday" whether he agrees with Trump that Hillary Clinton should be tested for drugs. Pence replied: "All I know for sure is that Donald Trump is going to be ready for the debate on Wednesday night." Trump suggested yesterday that Clinton might have been on some kind of drug during their second debate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says if the election were held now, her party would have a good chance to gain the majority in the House. Pelosi told CNN's "State of the Union" that the outcome will depend upon how Hillary Clinton fares and how much money Republican-leaning interest groups pour into the races to help GOP candidates. Democrats need to gain 30 seats to take charge of the 435-member chamber.

PARIS (AP) — Thousands of people have marched in Paris to call for the repeal of a law allowing gay marriage. Marchers also decried the use of assisted reproduction techniques and surrogate mothers to help same-sex couples have babies. Assisted reproduction is allowed in France only for infertile heterosexual couples and surrogacy is banned.

MADRID (AP) — About 3,500 dogs of all breeds and sizes have run through the streets of Madrid with their owners in the fifth annual Dogathon. The event is meant to raise awareness about animal cruelty and encourage dog adoptions. Spain has jail penalties for cruelty against domesticated animals, but Spaniards are divided over bullfights and bull runs.
