LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry says Yemen's Houthi (HOO'-thee) rebels have freed two U.S. citizens. He says their release on Saturday was part of complicated diplomatic arrangement that included airlifts for Yemenis wounded by an airstrike this past week by a Saudi-led coalition. Kerry says the U.S. has been working on such efforts for the past days.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry says a nine-nation meeting on Syria on Saturday didn't produce any concrete action to stop the violence in that nation. But he says several new ideas are being explored. Kerry says some of them "might be able to shape different approaches" toward a peace process. After the meeting in Switzerland on Saturday, Kerry said contacts among foreign ministers would continue in the coming days.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — The horror is Haiti is continuing. The poor Caribbean country will need a lot of help to recover from Hurricane Matthew. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived there today to see firsthand the extensive damage and destruction in the southwestern part of Haiti. Authorities have reported that the death toll was 546, though it's likely to climb higher as reports continue to come in from remote areas.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A powerful storm developing from the remnants of a Pacific typhoon is gathering intensity off the Northwest coast of the United States. The National Weather Service is warning about widespread damage when the storm reaches land today. Meteorologist Tyree Wilde says gusts along the central Oregon coast are already reaching 63 mph, and they could hit upward of 80 mph later this afternoon.

CLEVELAND HEGHTS, Ohio (AP) — A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a teenage employee during a robbery at a fast food restaurant in suburban Cleveland. Cleveland Heights police say an armed suspect entered a Mr. Hero store Friday night and shot the 15-year-old boy once in the head before taking money from the cash register and fleeing.
