ORONO, Maine (AP) — Dan Collins threw for 280 yards, including three long scoring plays, and Maine defeated Albany 20-16 on Saturday.
The victory gave the Black Bears (3-3, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) their third straight win and longest win streak since 2014.
Albany scored its only touchdown on a 1-yard run by Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks to get within four with 10:16 left. Neven Sussman threw 36 yards down the middle to Dione Alston to put the Great Danes (4-2, 1-2) at the Maine 37 with 3:20 remaining but Sussman was sacked for a 10-yard loss on second down and threw incomplete on fourth-and-7.
Collins completed a 49-yard pass play to Micah Wright for a touchdown that put Maine in front for good, 7-3. Collins also had a 40-yard TD pass to Earnest Edwards in the second quarter and a 51-yarder to Jordan Dunn in the third.
Collins finished 11 of 23 with an interception.
