WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton's campaign is hitting back against Donald Trump's assertion the White House race is shaping up as "a rigged election." Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook says participation in the electoral system shouldn't be "dismissed or undermined because a candidate is afraid he's going to lose." Trump posted tweets this saying "false and unsubstantiated charges" and "outright lies" are being pushed by the media as part of a scheme to help elect Clinton president.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — Donald Trump has suggested that Hillary Clinton might have been on some kind of performance-enhancing drug during their last debate. Trump made the comment today at a rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, without offering any evidence. He appeared to base the claim on his view that Clinton was energetic at the start of their second debate and downbeat at its conclusion. He said both candidates should be drug-tested before the next debate on Wednesday.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge has canceled a hearing set for Monday on a lawsuit filed by the Florida Democratic Party. U.S. District Judge Mark Walker says he'll make a decision without a hearing. In his order today, the judge accused Florida's top election official of trying to "run out the clock" so there wouldn't be enough time to address problems raised in the lawsuit. The suit says thousands of mail-in ballots are rejected each election because signatures on the envelope and registration file don't match.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A powerful storm is developing off the Pacific Northwest coast from remnants of a typhoon. The National Weather Service says gusts along the central Oregon coast are already reaching 63 mph, and they could hit upward of 80 mph later today. Inland, the winds are forecast to be weaker at 50 to 60 mph, but still strong enough to knock down trees and cut power.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Hundreds of firefighters are battling a wind-driven wildfire in Nevada that has destroyed 22 homes north of Carson City. The fire that was first reported yesterday has grown to more than five square miles and threatens 500 structures. It's only 5 percent contained. Officials say rain somewhat helped moderate fire activity, but strong winds are forecast for later in the day.
