The Indians took the first game last night 2-0 as Francisco Lindor (lihn-DOHR') banged a two-run home run. Josh Tomlin is pitching for the Indians today against J.A. (JAY) Happ.
CHICAGO (AP) — The first game of the National League Championship Series is being played tonight in Chicago. The NL Central champion Cubs are hosting the NL West champion Dodgers in the first two games of the series. Jon Lester, a 19-game winner for the Cubs, is squaring off with 16-game winner Kenta Maeda (KEHN'-tah mah-AY'-dah) for the Dodgers.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Alabama, the No. 1 team in The Associated Press poll, could be facing a challenge this afternoon. The Crimson Tide is in Knoxville, Tennessee, facing ninth-ranked Tennessee. The Tide enters the game riding an 18-game winning streak.
UNDATED (AP) — Auston Matthews makes his home-ice debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. He's the 19-year-old who scored four goals the other night in his first game in the NHL. Tonight the Leafs are playing host to Boston's Bruins.
NAPA, Calif. (AP) — First-round leader Scott Piercy completed the rain-delayed second round of the PGA's Safeway Open this morning. He birdied one of his six holes left in the round to complete a 5-under 67 and build a three-shot lead over Paul Casey and Johnson Wagner.
