WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Mike Pence says Donald Trump's campaign is working on producing evidence to support the presidential candidate's denial of sexual claims women are making against him. Trump insists he's never even met some of the women now accusing him of groping them or forcing himself on them. In an appearance on Fox News the morning, Pence blamed the news media for what he characterized as an obsession with "unsubstantiated" claims by Trump's accusers.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A federal judge is weighing an emergency request to extend Georgia's voter registration deadline, which passed while thousands along the coast were evacuated because of Hurricane Matthew. Attorneys for groups involved in registering voters are asking for residents of Savannah and surrounding Chatham County — if not the whole state — to be allowed to register through Oct 18. Lawyers for the state argue an extension would burden election officials now focused on early voting, which starts Monday. A decision is expected later today.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Amnesty International says countries including Mexico and the United States are deporting Central American immigrants back to violent homelands that don't protect them. In a report released today in the capital of Honduras, the international human rights organization said deportations, especially by Mexico, are soaring, creating a desperate situation when combined with already sky-high murder rates in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Officials in Yemen say an explosion has ripped through a funeral held for a top army commander east of the capital, killing five people and injuring 15 more. The general was killed last week while leading an offensive against Shiite Houthi rebels east of Sanaa. He was the most senior officer to be killed in Yemen's civil war this year.

MOSCOW (AP) — A senior Russian diplomat says a new United Nations Security Council resolution on Syria should include a U.N. envoy's proposal for the al-Qaida-linked militants to leave Aleppo. Russia's deputy foreign minister says the resolution also must endorse provisions of a U.S.-Russian cease-fire deal that fell apart amid a Syrian army offensive on Aleppo. The Fatah al-Sham Front already has rejected the U.N. envoy's proposal.
