WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump is firing back at new allegations of groping and sexual assault. Trump tweeted that a New York Times story on two women who say he groped them years ago is a "total fabrication." As for the account by a People Magazine writer who alleges Trump pinned her against a wall and kissed her without consent in 2005, he says, "it did not happen."

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas Supreme Court has ruled that voters can consider a medical marijuana proposal on the November ballot. Justices sided with supporters of a proposed constitutional amendment. It would allow patients with certain medical conditions to purchase marijuana from dispensaries. Arkansas voters narrowly rejected a medical marijuana proposal four years ago.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory says 55,000 utility customers in his state still have no electricity. But that's way down from the nearly 900,000 who were left powerless at the height of Hurricane Matthew. McCrory says no new storm-related deaths in North Carolina have been reported. State officials say 20 people died as a result of Matthew.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. General Assembly has chosen its next secretary-general. The 192 U.N. member states elected former Portuguese prime minister Antonio Guterres by acclamation. Guterres served as the U.N. refugee chief for 10 years until last December. He will succeed Ban Ki-moon as secretary-general on Jan. 1.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is offering his condolences to the people of Thailand on the death of their monarch. Obama says King Bhumibol (POO'-mee-pahn) was a tireless champion of his country's development and also showed an "unflagging devotion" to improving the standard of living for the Thai people. The king died today at age 88 following a world-record reign of 70 years.
