LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- A Utah State offensive lineman will be allowed to rejoin the team after prosecutors Friday reduced a drug distribution charge to a misdemeanor from a felony, The Salt Lake Tribune reported on its Web site.
The charge against lineman Taylor Wallace was amended to a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by as much as a year in jail, the newspaper said.
Wallace is accused of providing marijuana to five teammates on July 22.
Prosecutors on Monday had filed the charge as a third-degree felony, which is punishable by as much as five years in prison.
Wallace was suspended from the team pending the outcome of the charges, coach Brent Guy said Wednesday.
The redshirt freshman from Encino, Calif., was suspended from the team Tuesday, when coach Brent Guy learned of the felony charge. Wallace's suspension was lifted Friday.
Wallace also is charged with two other Class A misdemeanors -- one for drug possession and another for paraphernalia possession.
Wallace is scheduled for his first court appearance next week.
