TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State safety Nate Andrews will miss the rest of the season after suffering a partially torn pectoral muscle in his right shoulder Saturday during a victory over No. 16 Miami.
Coach Jimbo Fisher made the announcement following practice Tuesday.
Andrews, a 6-foot senior, played in only four games with three starts. He had 18 tackles and an interception. He missed the first two games due to a calf injury.
The 14th-ranked Seminoles (4-2, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) are already light at safety with Derwin James continuing to recuperate from knee surgery last month. Sophomore A.J. Westbrook is likely to start at free safety against Wake Forest (5-1, 2-1), while Ermon Lane, a junior who switched from receiver three weeks ago, and freshman Carlos Becker are likely to see additional playing time.
Andrews has played in 45 games during his collegiate career. As a freshman in 2013, he led the team with four interceptions as Florida State won its third national championship.
