This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

I want to congratulate Murray City, which is celebrating 100 years in Utah. Murray has given the Wasatch Front a legacy of some of the best golf courses, neighborhoods and businesses around. Huetter Mill & Cabinet happens to be one of those companies, and it has been around for 55 years.

Alfred Huetter, a young German immigrant who found his way to Utah with his family at age 15, founded Huetter Mill & Cabinet. Alfred first began mill working at Salt Lake Mill. As he developed his skills in fine craftsmanship, he found opportunities to do his own millwork and furniture. Alfred's own projects were built in the humble beginnings of a chicken coop at the family home in Murray. This proved to be a fine place to set up shop for building window sashes, trim and other custom millwork. I hope the chickens didn't hassle Alfred too much!

Alfred's early efforts in the '30s and '40s established his credibility as a mill worker and allowed Alfred to occupy the current shop located at 5805 South State Street. This building still looks like an old German chalet, with gingerbread millwork and shake shingles. Inside, you'll find a beautiful showroom and a warehouse full of various woods that smell like they came straight from the saw. It is a sight to see.

Huetter Mill has on hand more than $1 million worth of inventory. The company stocks standard moldings for projects like fine furniture, fireplace mantles, new construction, remodeling, do-it-yourself jobs and both residential and commercial tasks.

Huetter Mill and Cabinet designer and salesman Fred Orgill tells me this company has developed a complete line of stairway parts and systems supported by a team of stairway professionals. Huetter Mill and Cabinet stocks the stair parts and installs them as well.

Fred tells me Huetter Mill is also celebrating Murray City's 100 years with various festivities during the months of November and December.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
