This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
According to the Utah Film Commission, the last fiscal year alone shows that Utah has taken in more than $141.6 million related to major film and TV production, commercial and print media ads, marketing and promotional talents. The creative juices in Utah are strong! I've got more good news. I've discovered a group called site™ that strengthens Utah's creative industries even more by providing opportunities for exposure and networking.
I'll give you an example right now. Recently, Rolling Stone Magazine publishers were looking for a stylist for a photo shoot while they were in Utah. Their planning went awry and they found themselves in a tough spot. Luckily, the shoot had a site™ directory, an annually printed publication that showcases all of the creative service providers in Utah. The publishers picked it up and contacted a local stylist to hire on for the photo shoot.
The concept for site™ was conceived after one of the founders, Michael Stephenson, worked with an LA film director on a local production. As he witnessed the difficulty that the LA film director experienced in finding the services and film crew needed for his production, he realized there was a great need for an all-encompassing creative network in Utah.
The site™ Creative Network contains more than 2,000 local companies within the creative industry in Utah. This ranges from public relations firms, advertising agencies, film production companies, photographers, graphic artists, casting directors and stylists.
site's Web site www.siteutah.com is dedicated to helping people get to know who's who in the media arts industry by spotlighting one of those companies each month. The Web site also provides online portfolios, which display creative work from creative service companies for prospective clients.
The American Advertising Federation recently awarded site™ with an ADDY for excellence in advertising.
