This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Autumn is a time to stock up on nice things for the home and hearth before winter sets in. A great place to find high-quality ingredients for everyday living is at the cozy corner of 27th South and 20th East in Salt Lake City.

Cactus & Tropicals has been a fixture in this charming neighborhood commercial district since 1975. The full-service garden and gift center features hundreds of spring bulbs and perennial plants for autumn landscaping.

Located just west of Cactus & Tropicals is the Green Building Center. The unique store celebrates its grand opening tomorrow Saturday, October 25, and specializes in earth-friendly materials for remodeling your home -- like bamboo and cork flooring, recycled glass tile and non-toxic paint. You can also find cotton insulation made from recycled blue jeans and all-natural wool carpeting.

Once you've spruced up your home, decorate the walls with visual treasures from Artworks, Inc. Going there is like visiting a gallery, with hundreds of works of original art and photography by local and international artists.

When you visit the corner of 27th South and 20th East, you can savor the flavors of autumn. House of Bread serves up warm baked goods, like fresh baguettes and spicy pumpkin bread. Pazzo Deli and Market offers gourmet meals and take-out, like eggplant parmagiana and hot panini sandwiches.

But as you stock your cupboards for the long winter ahead, please remember those in need. That's why the generous merchants at 27th South and 20th East have joined together to host a street party benefit for Utah Food Bank. The free family event takes place tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drop by with your donation of non-perishable food and enjoy live music, raffles, how-to classes and children's activities.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
