This is Fred Ball for Zions bank, speaking on business.
The Vincent Jones family has always loved the Flaming Gorge area. They would regularly visit Flaming Gorge and enjoy the boating, the fishing and the beautiful scenery. In fact, for more than 30 years the Jones family made regular pilgrimages to this beautiful spot.
One day in 1999, Deloy Adams, one of the family members, was fishing when a guide told him that the Flaming Gorge Lodge was for sale. Deloy had been thinking about a new venture for some time and called his brother-in-law about the prospect of becoming owners of the lodge. It would be a big decision because the purchase would include motel and condominium facilities, a dining room and café, general store and gas station, fly shop, liquor store, and a shop that provides rental equipment and guide services.
The purchase was consummated in September 1999. The Jones family no longer had to visit the area. They were now residents and proud owners of a facility that made them the biggest employer in Daggett County. The Jones family now boasts that they are the complete hosts for anyone visiting the area. They will make certain that you enjoy this unique blend of high mountain forests and sagebrush plains -- the Flaming Gorge Dam and Lake and the Green River.
The Green River has perhaps the largest population of trout of any river in the country, and float trips that originate below the dam take you seven miles through several small rapids and through glorious scenery.
The facilities at Flaming Gorge Lodge are open year around, but really, the seven-month spring, summer and fall seasons are peak time. There is winter snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and some of the best fishing of the year can be found in the winter months.
An abundance of wildlife inhabits the area and is often enjoyed by watchful visitors. So visit and enjoy this beautiful part of this beautiful state.
