This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

For the last few days, I have featured businesses near Salt Lake's 900 East and 900 South area in preparation for the Street Festival tomorrow. I've been told that 9th and 9th in Salt Lake is one of the most unique — even "funky" — business districts in town, a gathering of businesses offering tasty food, attractive shopping and extraordinary services. Be sure to pick up a "9th & 9th Passport" from participating businesses. Then, visit eight businesses to get your passport stamped and entered into a drawing for incredible prizes, such as a guided fly-fishing trip down the Green River, courtesy of Western Rivers Flyfisher.

Located on 1071 East and 9th South, Western Rivers is a fly-fisher's dream. Along with gear, clothing and classes on fly-fishing, Western Rivers offers guided services to local venues like the Green and Provo Rivers, and to places outside of Utah as well. Whether it's for Atlantic or Pacific salmon, bonefish or steelhead, storeowner Steve Schmidt has accompanied groups to British Columbia, the Caribbean, South America and even Russia. And for those wanting to tackle a trip on their own, Steve and his employees are available to help with the planning process and to give advice for a successful fishing trip.

I asked Steve if his store isn't a place more for experts than for beginners. Absolutely not, he told me. As a matter of fact, the store offers several different fly-fishing classes — each one intentionally designed for a specific skill level.

Steve's been in the fly-fishing business for so long that I was interested to know what he thought about fly-fishing, if it felt more like a job to him, rather than a hobby. With a grin on his face the size of a rainbow trout, he assured me that it was still more fun than work. You can find out more about Steve, his guided fishing trips and the rest of the Western Rivers business, by visiting the company's Web site. What's more, most of their products, if not all, are available for purchase online.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
