This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
For the next couple of days I'd like to tell you about a few of the businesses located at 9th East and 9th South in Salt Lake City -- shops and restaurants that will be participating in this Saturday's business celebration and street party. 9th and 9th is home to some of the most unique stores in town, offering products and services that you won't find anywhere else.
Take the Children's Hour, for example. Owner Diane Etherington opened the Children's Hour in 1983 because she felt that living in Salt Lake, the best in children's literature was hard to find. The store has been a mainstay of the area ever since.
Of course, these days you can buy nearly every book ever published either on the Internet or from a corporate book dealer. Consequently, Diane has made the Children's Hour unlike any bookstore you've ever visited. Along with its modest but meaty selection of children's literature, the store offers women's apparel, children's clothing and toys, and specialty gifts. Like the assortment of children's literature, the clothing and other products are hand picked by Diane for their one-of-a-kind appeal.
Next door to the Children's Hour is Lisa Yerke's Floribunda Stationery. Floribunda offers customers inimitable choices of stationery along with other fine papers and gifts. They carry stationery produced by Crane -- a 200-year-old company that makes the paper used for U.S. currency. The paper is made of 100 percent cotton, which is an easily replenished source of paper that gives environmentalists peace of mind. All stationery, box notes, etc. can be personalized, or used as is.
The invitations and announcements available through Floribunda range in style from the very simple, to the amazingly extravagant, to whatever suits the occasion. Along with the stationery, Floribunda has a unique selection of journals and notebooks in stock, as well as calendars from Italy, quill pens and other distinctive items.
