(KSL News) A new law goes into effect today to better protect Utahns from identity theft.
The law gives people the right to freeze their credit files so that potential thieves cannot use their personal information to open fraudulent accounts.
Forty-four other states and the District of Columbia already have such a law in place. However, the Utah law differs slightly. It requires credit bureaus to simplify the process necessary to freeze the information.
