CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The new chairman of Wyoming's largest gay advocacy group hopes to revitalize the organization after high-profile victories led to decreased funding and membership.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2ck3n3U ) that John King of Laramie is the new leader of Wyoming Equality, which has 300 members. He says people think the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community has equal rights because now that gay marriage is legal, but Wyoming's estimated 11,600 LGBT residents still face many struggles.
King says he hopes to convince more of those people to join Wyoming Equality and will focus on making sure the organization is running as efficiently as possible.
King says other board members, including the former chairman, will focus on advocacy work.
