Hello from Minnesota. Flying in was an interesting experience in that I was getting settled into my seat when someone’s bag bumped into. I looked up and there was Utah’s first lady apologizing for the bump on her way to the back of the airplane followed by her husband Governor Huntsman. I was a bit surprised to see them on the plane and not sitting in first class.

The hotel where the Utah delegation is staying is very fancy, but very far from the Excel Energy Center. The first thing that was noticeable was everyone was worrying about the hurricane. Years of planning went into this party, that doesn’t feel as much of a party anymore. The Utah delegation will be doing a service project tonight putting together humanitarian kits.

Mitt Romney did make a stop to say hello to the Utah delegates this morning. It was his first official stop of the convention. He urged the delegates to put their support behind McCain.

Today President Bush was supposed to be here to speak but canceled because of the hurricane. Tonight’s convention meetings will be short and mostly business.
