THIS IS LANE BEATTIE, PRESIDENT OF THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER, WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

Crowell Advertising, Marketing and PR recently completed work on a large list of radio, TV, billboard, and print projects including two Harley-Davidson radio ads; anti-tabacco posters and billboards for the Utah Department of Health; and Skin Cancer prevention billboards, radio spots, and television ads for the Utah Cancer Action Network.

The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital recently opened Physical Therapy and Acceleration clinics at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns.

According to a survey by OfficeTeam, 39 percent of workers polled said they are very prepared to conduct a job search if they were to lose their job suddenly and another 41 percent said they are somewhat ready. Recommended areas to work on are your resume, references, your network—including professional organizations, and skills training.

According to Debra Fine, author of The Fine Art of Small Talk, mastering small talk is a key to finding a new job. She says, “A candidate who is the source of good feelings will be hired first every time. Two candidates with comparable credentials ... will be compared based on the comfort level they’ve established with the interviewer.”

This month’s Business After Hours will be at 5:00 p.m. this Thursday, July 17 at General Communications, a communications systems integration company located in Murray. There will be the usual prizes, food, and business building networking. To register call the Chamber at 328-5077, or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
