The current drought situation is a major concern in Utah and the need to conserve water is now a necessity. The people at Orbit Irrigation Products, Inc. are committed to helping their customers do just that. When it comes to watering our lawns and gardens with the appropriate amount of water, Orbit is the expert. Orbit's CEO, K.C. Ericksen of Utah, was born and raised in the irrigation business. Growing up, he was his father's right-hand man. In 1971, K.C. started Orbit Irrigation with his brother, Mike. In fact, K.C. has dealt with droughts on more than one occasion, and consequently, it's an issue that drives his company in its research and product development.
To bring attention to the current drought, and to get students thinking about how to conserve water, Orbit recently sponsored an essay contest for 11th and 12th graders in Utah and California. The title of the contest was "Outdoor Watering Conservation: The Next Step." The winning essay dealt with the need for developing new and efficient sprinkling systems. That's something the people at Orbit Irrigation take very seriously. Conservation through innovation is a company slogan.
