THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER, WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel changes. Terry Bybee has accepted the position of Vice President of Construction at Camco Construction. Nextel Communications has hired Matt Briggs as a Senior Account Executive, Rommel Valladares as a Corporate Account Executive, and Michael Jensen as a Senior Account Executive. Governor Mike Leavitt appointed Klare Bachman as Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce. Bachman replaces Ted Boyer, who left the Department of Commerce position to become a Public Service Commissioner. Boyer fills the vacancy left by Steve Mecham who recently retired.

Columbia College was recently reaccredited for the next 10 years.

Here’s what people are saying about the Chamber’s new President, Lane Beattie. "We are delighted to have Lane Beattie accept the appointment as President of the Salt Lake Chamber,” says Bishop H. David Burton of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Lane brings experience from both the public and private sectors and will use his extensive leadership skills to promote Salt Lake Chamber initiatives. We look forward to working with him on matters of great concern to Salt Lake City."

Business After Hours this month will be at the Utah Arts Festival on Thursday, June 19th. It’s a festive atmosphere for the Chamber’s famous business building networking. There will also be the usual great food and prizes. To register for Business After Hours, call the Chamber at 328-5077 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
