This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

The Curtis family brought over 40 years of automotive repair experience to Transmission Rebuild in Price, Utah when they bought the company in January 2000.

Father Norm had worked for years in the business and son Jeff had been a master mechanic for the local Ford Dealership. Another son, Tim, is the service manager and is the front-end specialist.

Since the family had great experience in all aspects of automobile service and repair, they decided to change the name and call their new venture, Price AutoPlex & Trans Rebuild. The company now can do anything for customers in Carbon and Emory Counties except for muffler replacement and repair, and work on R12 air conditioners.

When I walked into the shop I was warmly greeted by the Curtis family and then had a big surprise as they walked me through the facility. It is much bigger inside than it appears from the street. The structure has great depth and houses 10 bays or racks to service 10 cars at one time. It's apparent that business is very good because all of the bays were occupied.

The company offers Jasper Transmissions and that gives the Curtis Family the opportunities to offer their customers access to nationwide warrantees that are good for three years or 75,000 miles.

Norm told me that his type of business is kind of recession proof. When the economy is weak, people tend to keep their automobiles longer and they replace transmissions or do other repairs rather than trading in for new models. When the economy is strong, customers are more likely to do needed repairs rather than procrastinate and delay repair work..

Norm is obviously pleased to be in a business that brings him together each day with his family. Price AutoPlex & Trans Rebuild is truly a family business.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
