COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO - N0. 4 nationally ranked Snow College fopotball team opened its season in impressive fashion with a 56-17 victory over the Air Force Prep Academy Friday in Colorado Springs.
The Badgers started the scoring early, taking a 28-3 lead into halftime and sailing to the victory.
With starting quarterback Jon Eastman sidelined with an injury, replacement Quinn Mecham led the potent Badger offense, including connecting on two touchdowns. Running back Tyson Church scored three times and ran for 87 yards in the victory.
"It's always tough to come on the road," said Badger head coach Steve Coburn. "We played a good game and came away with the win. We also know a few things we need to improve on for next week."
Snow travels to Mesa Community College Sept. 6 to take on the No. 23 Thunderbirds.
The Badgers began their 2008 campaign ranked in the top 5 for the second consecutive year, following back-to-back 11-1 seasons in Coburn's first two campaigns.
