YELLOWSTON NATIONAL PARK, Mont. (AP) — Beginning Thursday snowmobilers will be able to enter a drawing for permits to ride through Yellowstone National Park without a guide.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/2cesLHH ) that a permit is required for all non-commercially-guided groups to enter the park.
The permits will be allocated by lottery and entries will be accepted from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30. The winners will be notified in October. After the lottery, any remaining permits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Trips can be up to three days long, and permits cost $40 per day, with a $6 application fee.
