NEW YORK (AP) — This is the third day of play at the U.S. Tennis Open and men's top seed Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) tops the afternoon schedule. Along with the world's top-ranked male seeing action, women's eighth seed Madison Keys is playing fellow American Kayla Day. Most of the top names are on court this evening.

UNDATED (AP) — After having their game in Denver rained out with the Rockies last night the Dodgers are facing the prospect of a day-night doubleheader in the Mile High City. The Dodgers start the day with a two-game lead over second-place San Francisco in the National League West. The Giants are home to Arizona this afternoon.

UNDATED (AP) — Toronto still has a two-game lead over Boston in the American League East. Both teams lost last night. The Blue Jays lost to third-place Baltimore, which is now three games back of Toronto. While the Jays and Orioles square off again today, the Red Sox are playing the Rays.

CLEVELAND (AP) — A deal between the Indians and Athletics involving Coco Crisp is expected to be confirmed today. Crisp began his career with Cleveland back in 2002 and his return would give the American League Central leaders more depth in the outfield as they push for the playoffs.

UNDATED (AP) — In case you missed it yesterday, Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a freak injury and will miss the season. While going back to pass in practice he dislocated his left knee and suffered a torn ACL. With his shocked teammates watching, Bridgewater's knee was placed in an air cast before he was taken to a nearby hospital.
