RODANTHE, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina's Outer Banks will likely be drenched as a storm blows by. But the National Hurricane Center says the storm isn't expected to reach tropical-storm strength as it pounds beaches through Wednesday. Forecasters do expect heavy rains of up to 5 inches and winds of up to 45 mph.

HILO, Hawaii (AP) — Forecasters say Hurricane Madeline is likely to pass just south of Hawaii's Big Island early Thursday. Residents have been stocking up on food and water and getting their pets secured as the storm churns toward the island, but it's also weakening. The storm has been downgraded from a Category 3 to a Category 2 hurricane.

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Later today, Donald Trump delivers his much awaited speech on illegal immigration. But hours before, Trump travels to Mexico to meet with Enrique Pena Nieto. Trump has long called for deporting people living in the U.S. illegally and building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. But in recent meetings with Hispanic supporters, Trump has suggested that he could be open to changing his hardline approach.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysian police say they've foiled possible attacks on the eve of the country's Independence Day. They say they're holding three suspected members of the Islamic State group. A police official says the three men had planned to attack entertainment centers in Kuala Lumpur, a popular Hindu temple and police stations with grenades or firearms on Tuesday, ahead of today's national day celebrations.

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — There's no word on the condition of the pilot and whoever else was on a small plane that crashed into an RV park in Nevada. The plane crashed Tuesday evening as it approached Reno-Tahoe International Airport. There were no injuries on the ground. Police say the plane hit the ground nose first and caught fire.
