GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Former Atlanta Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone has been named a special advisor to Furman's baseball program.
Paladins coach Brett Harker announced Mazzone's addition Tuesday.
Mazzone was pitching coach for the Braves from 1990-2005, a stretch that included 14 straight divisional titles, five National League pennants and the 1995 World Series. Mazzone also worked with a staff that included Hall of Famers in Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux and John Smoltz.
Mazzone was also Baltimore's pitching coach for two seasons in 2006-07.
Harker said having Mazzone's expertise and experience will add value to the baseball program.
