UNDATED (AP) — Toronto tops the AL East by two games over Boston and four over Baltimore following the Blue Jays' win against the Orioles and the Red Sox's rout of Tampa Bay. Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista hit solo homers and Marco Estrada scattered four hits in seven innings as the Jays topped the O's 5-1. Rick Porcello became the majors' first 18-game winner of the season and Mookie Betts smacked his 30th homer to highlight the Bosox's 9-4 win against the Rays.
UNDATED (AP) — Cleveland continues to lead the AL Central by 4 ½ games over Detroit, with the Tigers now within one game of Baltimore for the final AL wild-card berth. The Indians pulled out a 1-0 win against Minnesota on an RBI single by Jason Kipnis in the bottom of the 10th. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (sahl-tah-lah-MAH'-kee-uh) launched a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth that lifted the Tigers past the White Sox 4-3.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Carlos Beltran was 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two RBIs and two runs scored in the Rangers' 6-3 verdict over the Mariners in Texas. The Rangers took a 5-0 lead in the third inning as Beltran and Ian Desmond hit RBI doubles following Noma Mazara's run-scoring triple. Yu Darvish struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings to help the AL West leaders stay 8 ½ games ahead of the second-place Astros.
DENVER (AP) — Colorado's 8-1 pounding of Los Angeles puts San Francisco within 1 ½ games of the NL West-leading Dodgers. Nick Hundley got the Rockies going with a two-run homer and D.J. LeMahieu (leh-MAY'-hyoo) collected three RBIs as Colorado handed the Dodgers their third loss in nine games. Jon Gray four-hit L.A. while striking out eight over six shutout innings.
UNDATED (AP) — Washington's lead in the NL East is up to nine games over the New York Mets and Miami Marlins. The Nationals were 4-0 winners at Philadelphia as Tanner Roark (ROH'-ahrk) held the Phillies to four hits over seven innings. The Mets downed the Marlins 2-1 on a walk-off homer by Yoenis Cespedes (yoh-EH'-nehs SEHS'-peh-dehs) in the bottom of the 10th.
