This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Mark Twain once said, "The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them." The only thing left to decide is what is a good book to you. The ladies at Books and Beyond in Heber City stock a selection that is aimed at filling any reader's "good" list.
Karen Dallett, co-owner of Books and Beyond told me about all the changes that have been happening recently. In 1997 Books and Beyond opened in Midway in a small Victorian house. The shop soon gained a foothold in the small community selling books and a few novelty items.
We all know that relocating a business can be a risky venture, but Karen and her husband Val were pleasantly surprised at how business grew in their new location. Karen told me she estimates there has been about a 20 percent increase in business and many customers who had only visited once every six weeks now come in once a week. Often Val and Karen will call customers with book order information, deliver orders to customers and gladly offer gift wrap. In fact, Karen told me she loves knowing her customers by name and feeling like she and Books and Beyond are really a part of the community.
Books and Beyond hosts author readings for children and adults alike. Not only is it a unique opportunity for adults to meet authors, but it could also be an inspiration for future generations of authors.
Karen and Val believe so strongly in the importance of books they are looking to start book clubs for various reading interests.
Stocked with the Top 10 fiction and non-fiction books to parenting, religious and children's themes, Books and Beyond has the selection to make readers of all types find something good to read.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
