RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting his wife in Fort Washakie last fall.
The Riverton Ranger reports (http://bit.ly/2c95A1o ) that Koby Johnson was sentenced Friday after being found guilty of murder in June. His wife, Rachael Noel Johnson, was a 36-year-old nursing student at Central Wyoming College.
Court documents say the Johnsons had separated after being married for more than a decade. Several of the couple's children were called to testify during the trial. Court documents say they watched their father shoot their mother in the head with a revolver.
The documents indicate that Koby Johnson planned to argue that he acted in self-defense and the shooting was accidental. Prosecutors say he claimed his wife struck and injured him with multiple objects.
