BRUSSELS (AP) — A spokeswoman for the Brussels prosecutor's office says she "cannot confirm that there was any bomb" outside Belgium's criminal institute early today. Official say the incident is more likely an arson attack designed to destroy criminal evidence rather than terrorism. There are no reports of injuries.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A false alarm caused panic at Los Angeles International Airport where reports of a gunman opening fire triggered panicked evacuations. A search through terminals brought no evidence of a gunman or shots fired and police say they are investigating the source of some loud noises. Everything reopened but massive backups faced travelers in their cars trying to enter the airport and in security lines.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Fire Department says a recovery effort is being mounted today for a small plane that crashed last week into the muddy bottom of Lake Pontchartrain (PON-shuh-train) just north of New Orleans. It's hoped the recovery will also wrap up the mystery of two men missing since the crash. A third person, a woman, was rescued.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Voters should soon see a Donald Trump counterattack to TV ad campaigns from Hillary Clinton. The Republican presidential candidate's campaign is planning its biggest ad buy to date — upward of $10 million on commercials airing over the next week or so. Trump's campaign expects the ads to air as soon as today in nine swing states.

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Twenty-five pro-government troops who had been preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia to fight in Yemen's northern border area have been killed in a suicide car bombing at a staging area in the southern city of Aden. Officials say more than 60 people were wounded. The men had been at a staging area where they were registering to join a force the Saudis planned to train.
