CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The state of Wyoming is scrambling to try to block a federal judge's ruling that state may not regulate how much air ambulance companies may charge for transporting workers who are injured on the job. The state is asking a federal appeals court in Denver to block this summer's ruling by U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson of Cheyenne that federal law prohibits state regulation of air ambulance companies.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Wildfires burning in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks grew some over the weekend, but not as much as what firefighters expected under the red flag conditions. In Grand Teton, firefighters were able to make progress in their efforts to reopen a highway that has forced closure of the south entrance to Yellowstone.

MANDERSON, Wyo. (AP) — Investigators say fatigue and alcohol might have played a role in a motorcycle crash that killed a man in northern Wyoming. Sgt. David Wagener with the Wyoming Highway Patrol says 51-year-old Scott Hennager, of Big Timber, Montana, crashed his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 20 west of Manderson on Saturday afternoon. The bike went off the highway, vaulted over an irrigation ditch and hit a sign. Hennager, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming environmental regulars are frustrated by a proposed federal rule that they say could cost the state more than $1 million a year in lost revenue and $500,000 in implementation. The stream protection rule developed by the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement would force companies to return streams and banks that have been adversely affected by mining back to their former condition.
