BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox tonight are attempting to keep pace with Toronto in the American League East while visiting Kansas City is fighting hard for a playoff berth. The Sox enter tonight's contest a game back of the Blue Jays in the East while the Royals are three back of the final American League wild-card berth.

ATLANTA (AP) — Free agent safety Dashon Goldson has signed with the Falcons. He gives the team some depth as rookie starting strong safety Keanu Neal, the first-round pick, is out for at least the first two regular-season games with a right knee injury. Goldson, a 2012 All-Pro with the 49ers, had 110 tackles in 15 starts with the Redskins in 2015.

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium (AP) — Nico (NEE'-koh) Rosberg, the winner of the pole, finished first in today's Belgian Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo (rih-KAHR'-doh) was second, with defending world driving champion Hamilton Lewis third.

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — This week's Sprint Cup race is taking place at Michigan International Speedway. The winner of the pole on Friday was Joey Logano. That's his third pole in 16 Cup races at the Michigan track.

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The final round of The Barclays, the first tournament of the FedEx cup playoff, is being played today and Rickie Fowler starts play in front by a shot. He shot a third-round 4-under 68 to finish play at 9-under yesterday, one better than Patrick Reed.
