THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Veteran forward Dirk Kuyt scored twice as Feyenoord beat Excelsior 4-1 in a Rotterdam derby to go top of the Dutch Eredivisie after four rounds.
Feyenoord's victory Saturday and draws Sunday by both defending champion PSV Eindhoven and ADO The Hague means Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team has the league's only 100-percent record after four matches.
PSV squandered a straightforward chance to hold on to its perfect start when it could only manage a 0-0 draw against 10-man Groningen. Striker Luuk de Jong missed a penalty in first-half injury time for PSV as the team fired 37 shots in the frustrating match.
Coach Phillip Cocu says, "I had the feeling that we could have played another hour and still not scored."
