LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Cache County officials are considering an ordinance that would facilitate farms that want to become agritourism hot spots. The Herald Journal reports that the Cache County Council is taking another look at a proposal to allow agricultural lands to obtain conditional use permits for recreational activities without a full rezone.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The newly named director of the Bureau of Land Management in Utah will take the role at a time of high tension over public lands in the West. The Deseret News reports Edwin L. Roberson has been a leader with the bureau for 37 years. He will step into a job on Oct. 3 that Juan Palma vacated over a year ago. There are 23 million acres of public land and 32 million acres of mineral and energy resources under the purview of Utah bureau staff.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Recreational facilities and a reservoir are off-limits as firefighters continue to contain a northern Utah wildfire. Officials with the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest said Sunday that the Smith-Morehouse Reservoir is closed to all watercraft so helicopters can use the water on the fire, which is burning 12 miles east of Oakley.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake police are investigating the death of a man found shot inside a crashed car. Authorities received a report of gunshots around 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of 300 South 550 West. Officers on the scene found a passenger vehicle rolled over and a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound inside.
