LEXINGTON, Miss. (AP) — A suspect is under arrest in the slayings of two nuns in Mississippi. Rodney Earl Sanders has been charged with two counts of capital murder. He's being held in an undisclosed location, pending a court appearance.
ASCOLI PICENO, Italy (AP) — A funeral has been held in Italy for some of the victims of an earthquake that devastated three towns this week, killing at least 290 people. Most of the deaths occurred in Amatrice (ah-mah-TREE'-cheh), which has 230 confirmed deaths.
BERLIN (AP) — Anti-Islam activists have staged an hour-long demonstration atop Berlin's Brandenburg Gate. The protesters unfurled a banner calling for "secure borders" in Germany as crowds of tourists milled around the iconic monument.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea is threatening to fire at lighting equipment used by U.S. and South Korean troops inside the Demilitarized Zone. The North accuses U.S. and South Korean soldiers of "deliberate provocations" by aiming their lights at North Korean guard posts.
LONDON (AP) — One of Britain's leading broadcasters has blacked out its programs for an hour in hopes of spurring viewers to get some exercise. ITV shut down broadcasts on several of its channels this morning as part of its effort to entice UK citizens to sports clubs, which are being opened for free this weekend.
