NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are mostly lower on Wall Street, giving up a modest gain from earlier in the day after Fed Chair Janet Yellen gave an upbeat assessment of the economy. Yellen says the case for raising interest rates has strengthened given improvements in the economy. The Dow fell 53 points, or 0.3 percent, to 18,395. The S&P 500 slipped 3 points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,169. The Nasdaq edged up over 6 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,218.

NEW YORK (AP) — The price of oil is up again today. Benchmark U.S. crude rose 31 cents to close at $47.64 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Meanwhile, Brent crude, used to price oil internationally, rose 25 cents to close at $49.92 a barrel in London.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Federal officials say the government will make a $2.45 billion loan to Amtrak to buy new trains, upgrade tracks and make platform improvements on the Northeast corridor. Officials say the loan will allow Amtrak to boost seating by about 40 percent on Acela trains traveling between Washington and Boston.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Fresh-cut vegetables are being recalled from stores in the Southeast because the product may be contaminated with potentially fatal Listeria bacteria. Country Fresh says it involves vegetable products shipped to retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The products carry the Country Fresh and store labels at Bi-Lo, Fresh Point, Harris Teeter, Publix, QuikTrip, Spinx, Wal-Mart and Winn-Dixie stores.

MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) — At least two people say they found worms in food from McDonald's restaurants in two Kentucky communities. The McDonald's were located in Mayfield and in Draffenville, about 25 miles away . A McDonald's spokesman says the company is investigating and will "take all appropriate measures to resolve the matter."
