ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Authorities on the Greek island of Chios say four people were injured overnight in a wildfire that threatened homes.
A 64-year-old woman suffered extensive burns and was transported by military helicopter to an Athens hospital after the fire approached villages on the northwest of the Aegean Sea island, according to officials.
The woman's son and daughter were also among the injured.
Five helicopters and three planes were helping the firefighting effort around the village of Sidirounda.
A lull in high winds helped the effort.
