WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump says he doesn't support legalizing the estimated 11 million people living in the country illegally — unless they leave the U.S. first. The Republican presidential candidate has suggested recently he might be open to allowing those who have not broken other laws to remain in the country. But Trump tells CNN's Anderson Cooper that under his plan, "There is no path to legalization unless people leave the country" and then return.
AMATRICE, Italy (AP) — Italian Premier Matteo Renzi is authorizing a preliminary $56.5 million in emergency funding for areas in central Italy that were wiped out by Wednesday's devastating earthquake. He's also ordering the cancellation of taxes for residents of the hard-hit region. Italy's civil protection service says the provisional death toll for the quake has risen to 250 people. It says the number of injured stands at 365.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say they've found a car missing from the home of the two Catholic nuns killed in Mississippi. Police say it was found abandoned on a secluded street barely a mile from where Sister Margaret Held and Sister Paula Merrill were found dead Thursday in the community of Durant. The two 68-year-old women served as nurse practitioners at a nearby clinic for the poor. Police think they may have been the victims of a robbery.
UNDATED (AP) — The maker of EpiPens is offering patients more help to pay for its costly emergency allergy shots. But the company isn't budging on the $608 price. The announcement from Mylan on Thursday is triggering a new round of condemnation from politicians and consumer groups. They accuse the company of price-gouging on a potentially life-saving treatment.
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — American swimmer Ryan Lochte (LAHK'-tee) is being charged with filing a false robbery report over an incident during the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian police say Lochte would be informed in the United States so he could decide whether to introduce a defense in Brazil. The indictment will also be sent to the International Olympic Committee's ethics commission. Lochte's spokeswoman says the swimmer has no comment.
